Tobias Lenz (Bonn Universität): Fun with spans
Abstract
In this talk I will give an overview how categories of spans (aka categories of correspondences aka effective Burnside categories) show up naturally as universal examples in various parts of mathematics including representation theory, equivariant homotopy theory, chromatic homotopy theory, and n-functor formalisms. Most of the new(ish) results are joint work with Bastiaan Cnossen and Sil Linskens.
