Niko Naumann (Universität Regensburg): The conjectures of Hovey/Strickland and Chai
Abstract
We prove the easiest special case of a conjecture of Neil Strickland and Mark Hovey
concerning a K(n)-local version of the celebrated thick subcategory theorem of Hopkins et. al.
The main result is that their conjecture is essentially equivalent to an arithmetic conjecture, made independentlyby Ching-Li Chai. Time permitting, we explain that this result has a somewhat funky consequence fordescent of Balmer spectra.
This is joint work with Tobias Barthel and Drew Heard.
