Lucas Piessevaux: Isotropy separation in the Adams—Novikov spectral sequence

Abstract

Isotropy separation is an essential technique used to understand genuine equivariant homotopy groups in terms of a stratification by nonequivariant information. The equivariant Adams—Novikov spectral sequence is another fundamental tool used to understand the structure of the category of genuine equivariant spectra. These two approaches do not interact well at first glance since the various stratifications involved in isotropy separation need not preserve Adams—Novikov filtration hence do not lift to a stratification on the level of spectral sequences. In this talk, I will discuss how to reconcile these two approaches by means of categorification and a comparison with effective models for étale classifying spaces of nice groups in motivic homotopy theory.
