Marcus Zibrowius (Wuppertal): KO-Theory of Thom Spaces over Flag Manifolds (26/11/2013)

Abstract

Generally speaking, the KO-groups of a topological space abound with two-torsion. Flag manifolds are no exceptions in this respect. In contrast, the (reduced) KO-groups of Thom spaces over such manifolds are free in surprisingly many cases. I will present a general result in this direction and say a few words about its history and its proof.
