Bachelor theses in topology
The topology group organizes a joint presentation of bachelor topics in topology, usually taking place in one of the Topology I lectures before Christmas, for bachelor theses registered by the end of January and written in the period February - June. The accompanying bachelor thesis seminar takes place in the summer term.Master theses in topology
Starting in the summer term 2026 the master theses in topology (i.e., those supervised by Professors Hausmann, Schwede and Teichner or the postdocs in their groups) are organized systematically, twice a year: If you are interested in a thesis topic, please write an email to Markus Hausmann before the deadlinesAfter each of the deadlines, we will try to match the interest with the topics our group can offer and assign thesis supervisors. Formal registration for the master thesis should be completed by the end of the respective teaching period. We will not distribute master thesis topics between those dates.
In your email, please attach an up-to-date grade transcript and explain what areas or topics in topology you are broadly interested in working on (e.g., 'stable/equivariant homotopy theory', 'higher category theory', 'geometric topology', 'low-dimensional topology', ...). If you already have more specific topics in mind you can mention these as well. Note that unfortunately there is no guarantee that you will receive a topic as our capacity is limited.
PhD theses in topology
Here in Bonn, all PhD admissions in Mathematics are organized through the BIGS (Bonn International Graduate School). Please check the link for instructions on how to apply and the deadline for the next call. If you are interested in working with one of the Topology professors, you may list their name(s) as potential supervisors.News
