Tobias Barthel (Københavns Universitet, Denmark): The boundary of chromatic homotopy theory.
July 25th, 2017
Abstract
The stable homotopy category can be viewed as an enrichment of the category of abelian groups in which there is an infinite family of chromatic primes (n,p) interpolating between characteristic 0 and characteristic p. It has long been observed that the local structure at these primes becomes more algebraic when p tends to infinity. This talk is about joint work with Schlank and Stapleton that provides one way of studying the boundary of the stable homotopy category, using ideas inspired by mathematical logic.
