Basic Notions

Seminar "Basic Notions"

Catharina Stroppel, Anton Bovier, Robert Kucharczyk

This winter term (2011/12) there will once again be a seminar on "Basic Notions". Time and place will be announced on this web page shortly. The following types of talks will appear in this seminar:

  • Talks about actual "basic notions": what is a ..., why should we study them and what is known about them?

  • Talks by PhD students about to finish their thesis, introducing the thesis to a wider audience

  • Talks about mathematical topics that, in the speaker's opinion, deserve to be more widely known

The seminar is primarily aimed at master and PhD students in mathematics, but other interested people are welcome. Talks are intended to be both interesting and understandable to a general mathematical audience. If you would like to give a talk or suggest a topic, please contact Robert Kucharczyk.
Due to the seminar's deliberately broad range of (possible) topics, participation cannot be rewarded in terms of credit points.

This seminar is an event of BIGS.
