Lecture Course: Representation Theory II

Prof. Dr. Catharina Stroppel, Dr. Olaf Schnürer.

Wednesday, January 22: tuturial instead of lecture
Thursday, January 23: tutorial as usual
Friday, January 24: no lecture.

Time: Wednesday, 10.15-12.00, and Friday, 8.15-10.00.
Place: SR 1.008

This course introduces the theory of Coxeter groups, reflection groups and associated Hecke algebras. We study the representation theory of these algebras in detail as well as their intrinsic structure, in particular their canonical and cellular bases. Finally we connect this with the representation theory of complex semisimple Lie algebras and with the geometry of flag varieties.
For the second part of the course knowledge about semisimple Lie algebras or algebraic groups is assumed.
